This is where our lives happen
It’s where we’ve raised our families, built our businesses, made lifelong friends, and created the routines and traditions that make a place feel like home.
We know the coffee orders, the back roads, the beach spots, the restaurants we keep going back to, and the places we almost don’t want to tell everyone about. And somehow, there’s still always something new to discover.
That’s really where Carlsbad On The Move came from. We wanted a place to share the Carlsbad we actually know. The longtime favorites, the new places we’re excited about, the people behind local businesses, and the things happening around town that are genuinely worth knowing about.
And while Carlsbad will always be at the heart of it, some of our favorite finds are just a few minutes outside of town. So every once in a while, we’ll take you with us beyond Carlsbad too. If it’s nearby and worth the drive, we want you to know about it.
It’s not a visitor’s guide. Think of it more like getting recommendations from a friend who happens to know the area really well.
What we love about this place
Carlsbad still has soul. It hasn’t lost that laid-back, surf town feel that made North County special to begin with, but it’s also grown into something pretty incredible. Beautiful beaches, great neighborhoods, good schools, and enough to do, eat, and explore that there’s always a reason to get out and enjoy where we live.
We have our routines and our favorite spots. Wednesday farmers market, walks along the seawall, music in the Village, favorite beach access points and restaurants where we already know what we’re ordering before we sit down.
And yes, we have opinions about the best of them.

Gregorio's Italian — literally next door to our office and exactly what a neighborhood restaurant should be. Village Kitchen & Pie Shoppe for home cooking done right. Nick's and Le Papagayo when the occasion calls for it.

Lofty Coffee, Baba Coffee, and Revolution Roasters. All village staples. All worth the trip. Ask us which one to hit depending on your vibe.

Tamarack State Beach, the seawall walk, the Carlsbad campgrounds, and Carrillo Ranch for a reminder that this city has real history. The flower fields in spring — obviously.

Wednesday farmers market, music in the village, the Carlsbad Village Faire twice a year. Our office is right in the heart of it — the energy here is the best part of our workday.
What most people get wrong about Carlsbad
They think it's one place. It's not. Carlsbad spans four zip codes — and each one offers something completely different. You could live here for years and still be discovering new pockets.
92008 — Carlsbad Village The heartbeat. Historic downtown energy, walkable streets, local restaurants, the farmers market, ocean access.
92009 — La Costa World-class resorts, championship golf, top schools, family communities with room to breathe.
92010 — Calavera Hills Hiking trails, open space, newer developments, great value for North County.
92011 — South Carlsbad Beachfront camping, Aviara, Bay Collection, Batiquitos Lagoon. Coastal luxury at its finest.
So, who are we?
We’re the women behind Kohler House Real Estate Group. Our office is right in Carlsbad Village, which means we’re never far from a good coffee, a quick lunch, or an excuse to walk around the Village.
Carlsbad is our home base, but our work takes us throughout North County. And we know there’s a lot about a neighborhood that market data will never tell you. The streets, the views, the little micro-pockets within each neighborhood, and the places you’ll actually become a regular.
Those are the things you don’t necessarily see in a listing, but they’re often the things that matter most.
Yes, we’ll talk about homes and neighborhoods. But we’ll also take you inside local businesses, show you places you may not know about yet, share what’s new around town, and probably tell you about a few things we think you need to try.
Because knowing Carlsbad isn’t just knowing the real estate. It’s knowing what it feels like to live here.
