Taste of the Windmill Returns to Carlsbad: A Weekend for Food Lovers!

Calling all Carlsbad foodies! If you've ever walked into the Windmill Food Hall and had trouble deciding what to eat, this event was made for you.

On Saturday and Sunday, November 7–8, 2026, the Windmill Food Hall is hosting Taste of the Windmill, a two-day food event that gives visitors the chance to sample dishes from its collection of food vendors without having to commit to just one restaurant.

And here's the best part: participating vendors will be offering special tasting menus with items priced from $5 to $10!

Whether you're a regular at the Windmill or haven't visited in a while, this is a fun excuse to explore the different flavors under one very recognizable Carlsbad roof.

One Windmill, So Many Delicious Choices

If you've lived in Carlsbad for any length of time, you probably know the big windmill just off Interstate 5 near Palomar Airport Road.

It's one of those local landmarks that's hard to miss.

Longtime North County residents might even remember when the building was home to Pea Soup Andersen's. Today, it's been transformed into the Windmill Food Hall, a lively gathering place with a collection of independent food vendors, a full bar, and plenty of room to relax with friends and family.

And that's what makes it such a fun place to eat.

One person wants tacos, someone else is craving sushi, and another is in the mood for a burger. At the Windmill, nobody has to compromise.

A Little Taste of Everything

The idea behind Taste of the Windmill is simple: sample a variety of foods, discover new favorites, and enjoy a little culinary adventure.

Each participating vendor will prepare a special menu for the two-day event, with tasting items ranging from $5 to $10.

Instead of ordering one full meal, you can try several smaller dishes from different kitchens.

Start with something savory, explore a cuisine you don't usually order, and finish with a sweet treat.

It's a great way to discover something new without having to choose just one place.

A Few Windmill Food Hall Vendors Worth Exploring

Part of the fun is discovering just how much variety you'll find inside.

Here are some of the food vendors currently listed at the Windmill that caught our attention.

Lobster Lab — For the Seafood Lovers

If you're a fan of lobster, this is one vendor worth checking out.

Lobster Lab brings seafood-focused offerings to the Windmill, giving visitors another option beyond the usual burgers and tacos.

It would be a fun stop to explore during a tasting event, especially if you're looking for something a little different.

El Puerto Street Tacos — You Can Never Go Wrong With Tacos

There's always room for a good taco, especially here in Southern California.

El Puerto Street Tacos brings Mexican street-food flavors to the food hall, making it an easy choice for anyone craving something familiar and satisfying.

And let's face it, a food-tasting event in Carlsbad wouldn't feel complete without a taco stop.

Rolled Up Sushi — A Little Something Different

Sushi lovers, this one's for you.

Rolled Up Sushi adds another flavor to the mix and is a great reminder that the Windmill offers much more than traditional food-court fare.

If you're the kind of person who likes trying a little of everything, this is exactly the sort of variety that makes the event appealing.

Cosmos Burgers — For the Burger Crowd

Sometimes nothing sounds better than a good burger.

Cosmos Burgers is one of the Windmill's options for those craving a classic comfort-food favorite.

It might be a good place to start your tasting adventure before branching out into some of the more adventurous choices.

Craft Pizza — Because Pizza Is Always a Good Idea

Pizza is one of those foods that works for just about any occasion.

Craft Pizza adds another crowd-pleasing option to the Windmill lineup, especially for families or groups with different tastes.

And during a tasting event, it's a chance to see what the kitchen has planned for its special menu.

Mini Donut Company — Save Room for Dessert!

You can't spend an afternoon sampling food without leaving a little room for something sweet.

Mini Donut Company is one of the Windmill's dessert options, and it's a fun way to wrap up your visit.

Because really, what's a food adventure without dessert?

The Windmill also lists other options, including Thai Style, Secret Sauce Wok & Grill, Pho Ever, Cacio, Asado Gaucho, and Twist New Zealand Style Ice Cream.

The event's individual tasting dishes haven't been announced in the listings I've reviewed, so be sure to check what's available when you arrive.

More Than Just a Place to Eat

One of the things that makes the Windmill Food Hall enjoyable is the atmosphere.

It's casual, lively, and designed for people to gather.

There's a full bar with craft cocktails and local beers, communal seating, and games for the kids. The venue also hosts live music, trivia, and other community events throughout the year.

That makes it an easy place to meet up with friends, bring the family, or simply spend a relaxed afternoon.

And with so many different food options, everyone can find something they enjoy.

Make a Food Adventure Out of It

Here's how I'd approach Taste of the Windmill: don't arrive with just one dish in mind.

Bring a friend or two, take a walk around the food hall, and see what each vendor is offering.

Pick a few things you've never tried before. Share dishes so everyone gets a taste. And definitely save room for dessert.

You might discover a new favorite restaurant—or finally try that vendor you've walked past a dozen times.

Sometimes the best local food discoveries happen when you step outside your usual order.

Another Reason to Love Eating Local in Carlsbad

One of the best things about living in Carlsbad is the variety of great places we have to eat.

Taste of the Windmill brings several of those flavors together in one place and gives everyone a chance to try something new.
